Police close down chaotic tyDi show in India

It seems the pulling power of tyDi in India can’t be underestimated, with the DJ’s gig in Bangalore over the weekend descending into chaos. Over 10,000 fans turned out to Palace Showgrounds for the show, with the venue at capacity an hour before tyDi was due on stage.

Those punters left outside weren’t going to settle for disappointment, either. Extra police officers and guards were called in to ward off the growing crowds, but once tyDi began playing a group of hundreds began smashing the main windows to the indoor arena. An estimated 3000 people followed the ‘gatecrashers’ rushing into the venue, prompting fights to break out.

Unsurprisingly, tyDi was yanked from the decks only 30 minutes into his set and escorted out of the venue by security. “The crowd literally broke down the doors to the venue, there’s broken glass everywhere,” he wrote on his Facebook in the aftermath. The incident made the national news in India and the promoters have announced plans to reschedule the event in a bigger venue.
